Caravan Convoy for Flood Victims

CMCA CEO Richard Barwick — 17 March 2022

The CEO of the Campervan and Motorhome Club of Australia has called for Australian RV owners to assist those who have been affected by the devastating recent floods in NSW and Queensland.

Your help is needed.

Well over 2000 individuals and family groups are displaced as a result of the recent floods in Northern NSW (Northern Rivers region) as well as southern Queensland.

Thousands of homes and businesses have been declared unrecoverable.

People have lost everything. Not only their homes, clothes, toys, beds, laptops, but their cars, pets, schools, workplaces, supermarkets, shops – everything. They have lost everything.

People are homeless.

Short-term housing for the thousands of displaced people across the region has been identified as a priority.

If you have a caravan you could offer as a temporary home, that would mean the world to these families and individuals. Local caravan parks have offered space – effectively offering to set up a village within their parks for these people. But vans are needed for housing.

If you can offer your caravan to a family to live in for six months, that would be amazing. Equip the van with bedding, kitchen condiments and a pantry of goodies – a temporary home on wheels for these families in need.

Join the Caravan Convoy – head up the Coast and deliver your van to a designated park. Be married up with a family/victims of the floods and show them how things work in your van.

If you want to help this is one way you’d be doing an enormous amount.

It’s going to take months, maybe years to repair and recover the damage of this recent flood.
